Being fully aware of who we are in God

This is the fourth of 10 blogs intended to help you TO BECOME AN UNSTOPPABLE DREAMER OF GOD’S DREAMS. Press this link if you wish to start reading from the first blog.

The true mark of an unstoppable dreamer of Gods’ Dreams is – even though some dirt gets thrown on your dream by the world, society and even certain authority in the Church – instead of letting it get buried, with the help of the Holy Spirit, you keep shaking it off. You keep moving forward towards the union with God. Since it depends neither on you, nor on others, but on God alone, God’s dream for you is and always be still alive.

So remember always that you are good. You are Divine. You are the Child of the living God (cf. John 1:12). Imprint this in yourself. Start saying positive things to yourself. Remember the greatness in you. Express with your behaviour the God within. Let the ‘Christ impressed’ in you, be ‘expressed’ by your behaviour. Do this even if your senses tell you the opposite. Do this even if you feel depressed. Do this no matter what. Collaborate with the God who dwells within you. Keep seeking God within yourself. Keep seeking yourself in God. Be his friend, he who is the Eternal winner. He, who when living on earth, took every opportunity to empower others. He who did all that was possible to free everyone from the shackles of sin, illness and social exclusion. Entrust yourself in God through Christ since “if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36).

Say to yourself, I have the power within me to do this because “God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, ‘Abba! Father!’” (Galatians 4:6).’ I have the power from on High to live this. I am who I am: God’s Child (see, John 12:36, Romans 13:12; 1 Thessalonians 5:5). I am “the salt of the earth” (Matthew 5:13). I am “the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). I am the “temple of the living God” (2 Corinthians 6:16). I am part of God’s dream to “Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Matthew 5:48).

For this reason, through this gift of the Holy Spirit that dwells in me: I have in me the power to fight every evil. I have the power to overcome every temptation. I have the power to save my relationship. I have the power to keep sowing the good news in the style of Christ to my family, friends, community and all the world.

MORE ON DISCOVERING YOURSELF IN GOD

Following and imitating Christ

All this is possible for you because you are not alone. You have a trinity of persons that support you from within. This was made possible through Jesus Christ, who through the invitation “Follow me!’” (Mark 1:17) has presented himself to you as a guide who knows both the destination and the way to reach it. Jesus himself walked along this way, and the only thing he asks from you is to follow his example. This is not something for you to do on your own. He is there ‘with you’. He is there ‘for you’. He treats you as his ‘friend’ (John 15:14-15) and as his ‘brother or sister’ (Matthew 12:50; 28:10; John 20:17). The only thing that you must do is that of staying in his presence. An act made possible through the Holy Spirit (cf. 1 Corinthian s 12:3; Romans 8:9). When you read in the gospels the mysteries of Christ’s life, they are rendered present! (cf. John 14:26)

Guided by the Holy Spirit

This happens through the aid of the Holy Spirit since no one can say “Jesus is Lord’ except by the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 12:3; cf. Romans 8:9). As this Spirit guided Jesus throughout his life—through him was conceived (cf. Matthew 1:18; Luke 1:35), started his public ministry (cf. Matthew 3:16), acted, spoke, rejoiced (cf. Luke 10:21) and offered himself up (cf. Hebrews 9:14)—this same Spirit continues to guide you today.  This is possible because the Father through Christ (cf. John 14:26) poured the Spirit on his disciples (cf. John 20:22) and consequently on every baptised (1 Corinthians 6:19) including you!

Doing the  Will of the Father in everything

Following the example of Christ who during his earthly life sought to do the will of the Father in everything  (see Matthew 4:4, 10; 6:9-10; Mark 12:28-30; Luke 2:49;16:13; John 4:34; 6:38) even when asked for his own life (Luke 22:42).  In the journey of discovering yourself in God, you will discover that the Father wants to trust you with a specific mission here on earth. God’s Dream for you! A project to choose life, because it belongs to him (1 Corinthians 3:22-23). A project to choose the new covenant, because that which was hidden is now revealed (cf. Matthew 11.25; Luke 10:21; Colossians 1:26). A project to be born again (cf. John 3:3-8).  And since as a person you are unique, the Father calls everyone for a specific personal mission. A personal mission that fully immerses you in his dream for humanity. A personal mission that activates God’s dream in you for the good of others.

It is important that this personal mission, is not to be confused with one’s state of life or vocation.  It’s not one’s profession or job.  It’s not, at least in most cases, a ‘spectacular enterprise’ nor a perpetual ‘painful Calvary’. This mission might be synthesized in the ‘for’ from which the combination ‘called for’ comes from. It is discovered in time by an individual. Through the different experiences, situations and knowledge that one acquires.  These ‘particular missions’, together have the aim of letting Christ live in the world in different dimensions. As Saint Paul states, “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.  And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers; then deeds of power, then gifts of healing, forms of assistance, forms of leadership, various kinds of tongues. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? …” (1 Corinthians 12:27-30). Thus, God appoints personal missions for the service of the whole church.  No one mission is better than the others, but each one is important for the rest since “For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ” (1 Corinthians 12:12).

Have you discovered this personal mission yet? In which direction do you feel the Spirit is guiding you? Which episodes of Christ’s life are moving your heart? If you have an indication, please write it down in the form of a prayer. If not, ask him once again for a sign. Pay attention not to let this mission be engulfed through too much thought, obsessions, or excessive internal dialogue. What might be your tiny dot in God’s grand design? The role that only you can do in His magnificent dream for humanity.
